When Pia from the Make A Wish organisation asked me if I could help fulfil a heartfelt wish for ten-year-old Christina, who was suffering from cancer, I was in a hurry. Christina wanted to move into her tree house in the garden before her long stay in hospital, and the summer was already drawing to a close.

At our first meeting, Christina greeted me excitedly at the door of her parents' house in Gablitz. After brainstorming together, we decided - in the absence of a suitable tree - to build a flat larch wood terrace with a small hut on the sloping monopitch roof of the garden shed. 14m² of terrace with a wooden railing covered with polythene netting can be reached via a small bridge. The larch wood hut has colourfully painted windows from my collection. A padlock has been added to comply with Christina's wish that nobody should enter her hut without authorisation.
