A quiet property on a pleasantly babbling stream and a cow pasture somewhere in Tyrol. A young, dynamic sibling couple with the unusual names Anique and Üxi. Those were the first impressions when I stood in front of the monumental group of trees, listened to the two's ideas for their tree house and immediately knew what we would do.
With a diameter of almost one meter, the middle spruce trunk is by far the largest of the group of three and was therefore chosen as the load-bearing one for the platform, while the two side spruces only have to support a few fastenings in the lower area and are only surrounded by a safety distance at the top will be.
Since the building authority also had a say, precise plans were drawn up and the approval was awaited until, almost a year later, Tobi and I built the platform within a week and were treated to a royal meal by the hosts. A movable staircase with a handrail leads to an approximately 20m² platform that runs around 3 spruce trunks.
It was then agreed that the brothers Tobias and Philipp Meyer, who run their young company BaumHandwerk together, should snap up and build the desired “cabin” with Üxi and Anique.
The cabin is like a fortified tent that doesn't accommodate much more than a comfortable double bed. It is constructed of solid larch with a chopped shingle roof and shiplap boarding to withstand snowy winters for many years. The robust tarpaulin built into the foot end creates a tent atmosphere.
