Stronghold

Typ
Treehouse

The old cherry tree had previously served as a climbing tree for the father of the two boys, who now, 50 years later, wanted a play castle on this mighty trunk.

Besonderheiten
  • Steep staircase
  • Dexterity

Although some of its branches are dead, the wood is still strong enough to provide sufficient stability for a tree house for at least 5 years. After that, it has to be checked annually to see how far the dying process has progressed, and over the course of May I managed to erect the "stronghold" on several days, which involved climbing more than 2000 metres in total, loaded down with tools and wood.

The tree can only be reached via a long, steep staircase. Shortening the long dead branches and trunks of the cherry tree and another dead walnut tree required a great deal of dexterity and quite a bit of courage, as they not only endangered me when they fell, but also various beds and bushes as well as three beehives. I was scared to death doing this risky work.

The play equipment is equipped with a fireman's pole, 10 embrasures, a table, a slide, 2 swings and a covered "pouting tower". And I am delighted to hear that the two boys, aged 7 and 4, use the beautiful garden more often than before because of their new "stronghold".
